What is Fraxel?

The Fraxel Laser is the biggest breakthrough in skin repair and rejuvenation of this decade.  It is the most effective treatment for acne and acne scarring, pigmentation, redness or general poor skin texture.  By safely penetrating into the deeper layers of the skin (dermis), the Fraxel laser rejuvenates your skin, stimulating new cell growth to reveal new, fresher, healthier skin no matter your skin type, or skin colour.

Fraxel Laser benefits a wide range skin conditions.  It is just as impressive in the treatment of acne, acne scarring and surgical scars as it is with enhancing a more mature skin, resulting in smoother, more youthful and healthier skin for a long-lasting result.

How does it work?

The fraxel laser works by penetrating deep enough to cause true resurfacing of the dermal layers without breaking or burning the skin’s surface.  Essentially, we are removing your old and damaged skin and replacing it with new skin by stimulating new collagen tissue regrowth – the basic structural support of our skin.

The fraxel laser drives thousands of tiny, individual columns of light deep into the area of skin being treated eight or more times and at a controlled and specific delivery rate.  These microscopic columns of treated skin are, over the following weeks, replaced by new healthy tissue leaving your skin with improved thickness, elasticity as well as in colour, lustre and tone.

Is a Fraxel Laser Painful?

Before your treatment commences, a topical anaesthetic is applied to the area to be treated to minimise any pain or discomfort you may experience.  To further ensure your comfort, cold air is used during the procedure, as well as further anaesthetic aid, should you require it.

Patients have previously likened the sensation of the Fraxel laser to sunburn, however it is bearable and of short duration.

After your procedure, your post-treatment care will involve the application of cold compresses to the treated area in a comfortable and relaxing environment.  Furthermore, after the application of post-laser solution and sunscreen, we are able to cover up any redness you may experience with mineral make-up to the extent most clients will feel comfortable travelling home on public transport.

How safe is Fraxel Laser?

Our Fraxel laser machine is FDA- and TGA-approved for use, meaning it has been through rigorous investigation to ensure its safety.  Fraxel Laser has been trialled since 2000 and was released into the marker in 2004 and has been used for tens of thousands of treatments since.  At the facial rejuvenation clinic, we have completed more that 3000 treatments using the Fraxel Laser and are as such considered a leading authority in its application.
