Dr Con Moshegov

Our reputation as one of the leading refractive practices in Australia is justified not only by our use of advanced technologies and our exceptional surgeons and clinical staff, but by the real life stories of the thousands of people who have walked out of our doors with better vision.

Each of these stories serves as a testament of the skill, professionalism and dedication exhibited by the Perfect Vision team. Here are just a few of our patients testimonials:

Adam Garcia (Actor)

"Dr Moshegov, thank you once again for my new eyes. It now never seems like I couldn't see. I almost take it for granted but I catch myself not needing to push my glasses up my nose. Bizarre and fabulous. Thank you once again you

Sharon Skeggs (Managing Director, Team Saatchi)

"I went to get my eyes assessed by Perfect Vision, and although I was deemed unsuitable, I was thoroughly impressed with the comprehensive eye assessment that I received. I was made aware of problems with my eyes that had for years been overlooked by my optometrist and General Practitioner. I would highly recommend Perfect Vision to colleagues."

Dave Wright (Radio presenter)

"From the age of 13 I have worn glasses, which had become a part of me, and a part of my everyday life. Dr Moshegov and all the team at Perfect Vision Laser Correction were great. They all knew how I felt, as many of them had had the procedure done themselves. Dr Con has the gentlest nature that I have ever come across in my life. Never once did I feel in the dark about what was being done! The feeling was amazing, and even now it just gets better. Its amazing to see how much wearing glasses really can restrict you! Your in great hands at Perfect Vision."

Julie Sheridan

"I would like to thank Dr Moshegov and his excellent staff for your kindness and excellent support. I feel like I've had a new lease on life at 58 years old. No more contacts or glasses! It is wonderful".

The Technology

Approved for use on consumers almost 2 decades ago, more than 40 million LASIK procedures have been performed to-date, making it the most-common elective surgical procedure in the U.S.

iLASIK is a two-step procedure that takes LASIK procedures to a new  improved level of precision. iLASIK revolutionizes laser vision correction and is the first vision correction procedure 100% customised for your eyes. By combining the use of two lasers instead of one, iLASIK offers patients the potential for better vision and superior safety:

Step 1

The IntraLase® FS laser cuts the corneal flaps. This laser replaces the hand-held microkeratome blade historically used. The computer guided, ultra-fast laser virtually eliminates almost all of the most severe, sight threatening LASIK complications related to hand-held  microkeratomes blades.

Step 2

Based upon the unique characteristics of an individual's eye, the second laser then uses Wavescan Wavefront  guided technology maps to create an optimal corneal surface below the flap, allowing for better visual outcomes. This sophisticated measurement provides 25 times more precision than measurements using standard methods for glasses and contact lenses.

Recently, after careful review by NASA of clinical data, the iLASIK Method has been approved for use by astronauts. This endorsement and approval is further evidence that iLASIK exceeds all established standards of safety and effectiveness. All surgical procedures have risks, but with this exceptional track record, the average consumer has nothing to fear from iLASIK

Frequently Asked Questions

AM I ELIGIBLE FOR LASIK?

Generally, a suitable candidate will be at least 20 years of age, have had a stable vision for the last 12 months, is not pregnant, is free of certain diseases of the cornea and retina and is generally in good health. If you have one of these conditions, you can rest assured that Perfect Vision Laser Correction also utilises the most advanced technology for Intraocular Lens (IOL) implantation and Refractive Lens Exchanges (RLE) procedures.

HOW LONG WILL THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

Each procedure takes only a few minutes on each eye but you will need to be at the centre for a few hours to ensure all pre- and post-operative checks are carried out.

WILL I BE ABLE TO THROW AWAY MY GLASSES?

Yes, in fact over 99% of our patients no longer need glasses or contact lenses for their vision in everyday life after LASIK.

HOW SOON AFTER THE PROCEDURE CAN I DRIVE?

Most people have vision that is legal for driving without glasses on the day of surgery. However we would recommend that you do not drive for a day or two after surgery.

DO I NEED TO TAKE TIME AWAY FROM WORK?

As most patients can expect 90% of visual recovery within 24 hours, you can return to work the day after your procedure. Minor visual fluctuations may occur during the first few weeks.

IS THE PROCEDURE SAFE?

LASIK are considered to be very safe. Over 40 million cases have been performed worldwide in the past 14 years. In the hands of an experienced surgeon utilising state-of-the-art equipment the procedure has an extremely low incidence of complications that are significant.

WHAT IS THE RISK OF COMPLICATION?

Like with all surgical or medical procedures there is a risk of complication. These are rare, and usually minor if they do occur. However, treatment should not be done if the patient cannot accept the remote possibility of a complication that could compromise the vision in an eye.

ARE THERE LIKELY TO BE ANY LONG TERM UNSUSPECTED SIDE EFFECTS?

This type of surgery, the procedure of creating the flap, has been performed for 40 years now and follow-up results show no side-effects. The excimer laser has been used on the cornea for over 15 years and there have been no long term effects documented.

WILL MY VISION BE CORRECTED FOREVER?

Once the cornea has been modified it tends to stay modified permanently. There can be occurrences of regression in the first three months, which can be corrected with an enhancement procedure. The vast majority of corrected eyes remain stable, permanently correcting near-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism.

I WEAR GLASSES FOR READING. CAN LASER SURGERY FIX THIS?

Yes. Monovision provides independence from reading glasses and contact lenses. The word ‘monovision' literally means ‘one vision', in which one eye is focused for near vision and the other for distance. Monovision is subject to individual adaptation and can be trialled with contacts or glasses prior to surgical treatment. Your suitability to monovision can be discussed at the time of your consultation with the ophthalmologist.
